Lets talk about how

the ICD can support your

your person!

Allegory of

Plato

Talk with James

12pm Eastern Standard Time.

We will create a plan about how your young person can integrate the study of the classics into their educational track.

In a world full of phone screens, we turn to a 2,000-year-old tale: prisoners chained in a cave, mistaking shadows on the wall for reality.

“Mr. Hartree from the ICD is exactly what you want in a seminar leader. He is charitable and attentive, yet will challenge you when necessary. Whenever I am in a seminar with him, I know that I am in good hands."

Our Vision

  • Transform minds with the Great Books

  • Build character through collaboration

  • Create deep listeners

“By reading and discussing, by asking questions and listening in humility, we make progress together in understanding.”

- Augustine of Hippo, 4th-5th Century Church Father

We fill the gaps in modern education.

  • Students are missing out on reading books.
  • The classics are being replaced by textbooks.
  • The future needs free thinkers.
“The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future life.”-Plato

At the ICD, it all starts with
a Great Book

Like scholars have done for thousands of years, we develop a keen understanding of the material through an open-ended discussion.

Our scholars are not authorities - the great books are.

The scholar will guide students in their own investigations, steering the conversation.

The ICD aims to promote student leadership, and give students the opportunity to teach one another wherever possible.

Discussion Classes

The ICD's flagship is our discussion-based classes on classical texts. Skip textbooks, worksheets and endless testing. Be guided by an expert scholar, gain the tools to read the best works ever written, and learn key discussion and critical thinking skills. Join us in our study of the Greeks, Christianity, the history of math and science, and much more!

Private Subject Tutoring

Go in depth with one of our tutors in a subject of your choice. We offer SAT support, and subject tutoring for standard high-school tracks. Or, work with our expert scholars on a passion project, whether it be translating a Platonic dialogue, studying the Bible later in life, or writing an essay.

College Preparedness Coaching

Our students write the best personal essays possible.

We teach our students to find their voice, and tell their story.

We also make sure they are fully equipped for when they get to college.

We teach students how to structure an award winning essay, and how to conduct graduate level research.
